Part 3 - Departure
The lively party went on, promising to go on all through the night. Elipson had excused herself and left to return to her duties. Denar too, had left to take care of the last details concerning their trip. And thus Elian had been left alone, surrounded by all those richly dressed, boring noblemen.
He noticed the two young women walking towards him and instinctively jumped to his feet, practically fleeing the room, allowing himself to take a deep breath far away from all that commotion.
With a smile, that came to him as soon as he realized what he had done, he headed towards the kitchen, where men and women worked tirelessly to make sure nothing was amiss in the great hall.
“Adira? Do you have any more of those anise cookies?” he asked out loud, looking for the plump woman amongst all those white caps. He found... read more ❯

Part 2 - Rite of Passage
As tradition dictated, on that festive day, the Prince Heir of Mithir personally welcomed, with a fake but friendly and politically adequate smile, all those who had been invited to attend his Ceremony of Passage.
Inevitably his eyes were constantly drawn towards the high windows of the great hall, which led to the interior courtyard where the Knights normally trained. Any other day Elian would be outside, with them, dressed in the black uniform of the Order, wielding his sword. Part 1 - A Bright Morning
The day dawned bright and sunny. And although it was already late in the morning, it was with sacrifice that Elian dragged himself out of bed, and only because Adira had tempted him with a plate of her delicious anise cookies.
The air smelled of Spring, of green leaves and fragrant flowers that, after their long Winter sleep, had finally started to show their beautiful colors.
“Hurry up, Young Master! If your mother finds me here I’m sure to get scolded!”
Elian stretched lazily and looked at the plump woman that had awakened him.
“Why would she scold you?”
“Why?! Because my place is in the kitchen, that’s why! And the Young Master is old enough to get up by himself, wouldn’t you agree?”
“Oh, come on Adira. My mother knows perfectly well just how much you spoil me,” Elian told her, getting up and hugging the older woman... read more ❯
A Stormy Night
Elian woke up.
His heart beat so hard it felt it would jump out of his chest. The same dream, again. Where everything fell around him, the ground shaking, the terrifying screams still ringing in his ears.
But no. His room remained dark and silent. And although he couldn’t exactly see the furniture that surrounded him, the tranquility that filled the air invited him to forget that terrible nightmare.
Without a second thought, he pushed away the covers that kept him warm and jumped out of bed. The cold of the stone floor beneath his bare feet made a shiver crawl up his spine but … Oh well! Every night was the same. Elian would have that terrible dream, wake up and get out of bed, so he could pay a visit to little Allana, bringing her some comfort and keep the baby from crying.
In small silent steps, surrounded by the... read more ❯
